Max Effort Bench Press

Max Effort EZ Curl

and a surprise test of strength and willpower!

(Don’t be afraid.  The surprise isn’t squat for all you guys with pencil-thin legs.)

Meet Director:  Jim Phelps, 337.578.5329

Event:  Enroll 3 to 5 members from your gym to compete on Saturday, June 27, 2009.  Competitors will be scored using the Schwartz formula in 3 tests of strength, allowing for great pound-for-pound competition.  The top 3 competitor’s scores will be tallied to produce a final total for each team.  One trophy is at stake.  Your gym’s bragging rights are at stake!  All competitors will receive a certificate of participation, and the top competitors of the day will be awarded.

Venue:  The Gym, 128 E. Butcher Switch Rd., Lafayette, LA.  From US-167, take the Gloria Switch Rd. exit.  Take the frontage road, neighboring Chili’s and the other restaurants.  Turn left onto Butcher Switch Rd.  The Gym will be on your right.

Schedule:  Saturday, June 27, 2009

                  Weigh-in:  9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

                  Rules Briefing:  10:00 a.m.

                  Begin Lifting:  11:00 a.m.

Eligibility:  This event is open to all health club or gym members.  Each participant must belong to a 3 to 5 man team from his respective gym.  More than one team is welcome from any participating health club or gym.

Deadline:  The postmark deadline for submitting $100 per 3 to 5 man team with the team registration form is Saturday, June 13, 2009.  That’s only 20 to 33 bucks per person!  You can also pay online at http://www.pinnacleperformance.biz/strongestgyminacadiana.com. Late entries will be accepted the day of competition with an additional $15 fee.

Brief Rules:  Bench shirts, belts, and chalk are allowed.  Gloves are lame for a guy to wear, but they will be allowed.  On the bench press, the upper back and buttocks must remain in contact with the bench.  Feet must remain in contact.  There will be a “Start”, “Press”, and “Rack” command.  The “Press” command will be very brief, yet it will be sufficient enough to prevent the lifter from bouncing the weight off his chest.  On the EZ Curl, there will be no excessive swinging to get the weight moving.  There will be a “Start” and “Down” command.  On the surprise test of strength, don’t show any signs of fear. You’ll get the rest later.

If you don’t make it to this event, you have no bragging rights.

It’s time to put up, or shut up!
